Reading one of Buroker’s stories is like sitting down with your globe trotting adventurous best friend and catching up on her exciting life.
Soulblade is full of sorceresses, dragons, royalty, swamps, bizarre and incredibly dangerous wildlife, rope bridges, and humor (often ribald). I found Soulblade to be the most exciting, fast-paced, action-packed story in the Dragon Blood series.
I recommend this book for all readers who love an entertaining story and a good laugh over the age of eighteen.
Never think though that because this is steampunk/fantasy, which is typically escapist fiction, that Buroker is lacking classic writing skills. She has the chops. This is escapism at its best and you still obtain a bit of education along the way.
Raptor is full of dragons, magic, cave-ins, crazy exploits, and non-stop humor and action. It is also filled with some real physical and emotional pain, fears, and misplaced guilt which make the characters real. All said, you really should read Raptor just to find out what happens to the sofa.
It is not always easy to find the perfect escape book but each and every time I pick up one of Lindsay Buroker’s books I am not disappointed (except for that while she is an incredibly fast writer she constantly keeps me wanting the next book NOW).
Deathmaker is action packed, full of zany adventures, has a light and fun sense of humor, and brought back characters that I had already fallen in love with.
